From Radio 2 Morning to Radio 2 Drive, we listen to the CBC as fans, and sometimes when we hear our own music we listen just like it’s the first time again. There’s still a thrill in realizing that something that started in our minds is being broadcast into homes and cars. Thanks to Tom Power and Rich Terfry for all the support!

Winter Wonderment http://jetsoverhead.com/winter-wonderment/ Sat, 30 Nov 2013 00:37:07 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1268 Winter Greetings!

Oh man, I just love winter. Some people think I’m insane but I just relish in it. The cold, grey empty beaches; the long, dark evenings with lights turning on and fires being lit; the trees shivering and stretching their arms in relief at being finally laid bare.

So in celebration of winter we’ve got a few tunes to share:

1. Adam has just recently released a song specifically for the CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada Song Quest. You can listen to the song here, and if you dig it please take a moment to vote for “We Believe” to be the next Hockey Night in Canada soundtrack! Look for the “vote for this artist” button on the lower right – you can vote once a day until Dec 11 (hint hint)! We’d love your help getting this feel good rock singalong pumping in arenas across the Great White North!

2. Our version of Winter Wonderland. ‘Nuff said. This is a classic and we love it. You can check it out and download it for free here. Merry Chrimbus!

3. To celebrate the approaching New Year we’ll also be releasing an EP of rarities and b-sides from Boredom and Joy. Look out for those early in the new year.

We hope this finds you well and enjoying winter, wherever you are.
Cheers,
Antonia and Jets Overhead

This is the new video for our song, Beach Dream, directed by the talented Jeremy Lutter and starring local film hero Cameron Bright (ahem. cough, cough. Twilight?!) and Sarah Desjardins.

Cameron, Jeremy and Jets Overhead are from Vancouver Island; and they understand that, around here, beaches are important: the shape, smell, landmarks and feeling of certain beaches are locked into our brains and hearts. There’s the beach you go to when you want to party, there’s the beach you go to when you’re falling in love or out of love, there’s the beach you go to when everything’s going wrong and you need to be by yourself and try and figure out why.

Time and Place – Directed by Jim Knox http://jetsoverhead.com/time-and-place-directed-by-jim-knox/ Thu, 07 Mar 2013 08:23:30 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1231 We are pleased to release a mysterious short from director Jim Knox, using our song “Time and Place” as the backdrop. We asked Jim for insight into how this story fits into a larger piece he has been working on, but so far he is mum…so we’ll do the same and leave this one open to interpretation! All we know is it’s a beautifully shot sequence, with an underbelly that asks for a second viewing. Thanks also to cinematographer Dan Carruthers, and actors Galen Crewson, Maxwell Hooker and Matt Girard. We hope you enjoy. xoxJets Overhead

Boredom and Joy [Clean Dirt Remix] (Music Video) http://jetsoverhead.com/boredom-and-joy-clean-dirt-remix-music-video/ Wed, 13 Feb 2013 21:50:50 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1224 So you may have noticed that making our album, Boredom and Joy, in NYC was a delicious, inspiring, and highly enjoyable experience for us. Sorry – it’s hard to shut up about it. To our ears, the album is soaked with the city – especially the title track. Please check out this new video for the Clean Dirt Remix of Boredom and Joy to see what I mean.

Happy belated 2013! http://jetsoverhead.com/happy-belated-new-year/ Tue, 05 Feb 2013 18:47:15 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1209 1. We]]> Hello out there and happy 2013! Belated, slightly…but a heartfelt greeting from JOH and fist pumps for a new year full of new opportunities, challenges, good stuff, music, peeps, health, happiness, love.

We have some news to share!

1. We are releasing 9 fantastic Boredom and Joy remixes today! Remixers include The Shanghai Restoration Project, Apparent Motion, Clean Dirt, Kreap, Phynn, Kevin Hamilton, Tad Wily, Anand Greenwell, and War Widow.

“Boredom and Joy Remixed” is available for purchase on Amazon and iTunes.

2. We’ve got these sweet new t-shirts available on Maple Music. Men look really good in them, fyi (but remember, don’t wear your t-shirts too big! They shouldn’t be baggy!!)

3. We’re sending a shout-out and big thank you to WRFF in Philadelphia for playing Boredom and Joy…thanks for the support and love. If you are in the Philly area, tune in!

I know I can sound like a broken record about this but HOT DAMN I love odd numbers, so I am always eager and slightly relieved when we slip on out of the old even numbered year and into on odd one – and 13?! Please. A serious power-number. A sly, ample, fruit-bearing, sassy, hilarious, passionate, driven, focused number if there ever was one. This year feels good already, hope it feels the same for you.

Cheers,
Antonia and Jets Overhead

What You Really Want – Create your own version http://jetsoverhead.com/what-you-really-want-create-your-own-version/ Fri, 21 Dec 2012 20:02:30 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1200 What you think you want, what you should want, what you used to want, what you wish you wanted, what you shouldn’t want. There’s what your heart wants, what your gut wants, what your head wants and what your body wants.

What we really wanted was to know what YOU really want.

Murmur developed tellmewhatyoureallywant.com which was then extended as a platform that allowed us to find out. This process really showed us the power of a creative platform and how social media can pass on a message so quickly and fluidly. As we browsed through your submissions, we were inspired by your honesty and positivity… Thank you for sharing with us.

The interactive version of the video is now available on tellmewhatyoureallywant.com, where you can create your own rendition! Select the images (you can even add your own photo to the mix) and share your message with the world with your own unique link or by using the Facebook and Twitter icons!

The official video is available on rollingstone.com and our YouTube page.

“THESE GIRLS ARE FRIENDS OF MINE” http://jetsoverhead.com/these-girls-are-friends-of-mine/ Wed, 19 Dec 2012 21:52:08 +0000 http://jetsoverhead.com/?p=1191 We have been posting a track-by-track analysis of our album “Boredom and Joy” in sequence. Keep checking back for new descriptions. Here’s Antonia’s analysis of the album’s final track:

“THESE GIRLS ARE FRIENDS OF MINE”

Piers brought this song to the band as what we call a “bedroom track” and we were bewitched by it’s gentle pulsing feeling and vague lyrical story. I love that this song seems stuck somewhere between darkness and light. Like when something profound has happened to you and you’re not sure whether to feel sorrow or joy. I think sometimes you feel most alive in that emotional no-man’s land.

We gave the song a bit of a rhythmic lift in pre-production, then did a last minute change to song structure right before recording the vocals (we turned the pre-chorus into the chorus and turned the chorus into the long outro). Not going to lie: I felt quite verklempt while recording the vocals on this one – looking down onto the quiet mid-winter side street in manhattan’s east village, wondering what is to become of it all.
