We have been posting a track-by-track analysis of our album “Boredom and Joy” in sequence. Keep checking back for new descriptions. Here’s Antonia’s analysis of the album’s seventh track:
I’m curious about how you make big decisions in your life – what’s your process? Do you go with your heart, your head, your pros/cons lists? Do you weigh what you will gain over what you will lose? Do you ask for advice? Do you picture your life by choosing a certain path, trying to imagine how it would feel?
It’s amazing how sometimes you do something, or you don’t, with no foresight, consideration, logic, or reason. Blame it on the moon.
This was another song where we switched me over to lead vocal as an experiment during a late night getting-ready-to-go-to-NYC-to-record-this-album jam in Victoria. At first, I felt like it was way too low (even for what I fondly refer to as my “man-voice”), and we needed to adjust the key…but then I got into it and loved how the low, hushed verse suited the sad/frustrated/confessional feeling of the lyrics.
